Roles and permissions
Who can see and edit what.
How permissions work in planni
One or more roles
Every user gets at least one role when invited. That role decides which menu items they see and what they may edit in them. A user can also hold more than one role at the same time. For the actual permissions, the most powerful of those always counts.
The roles at a glance
| Role | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Super Admin | Unrestricted access. Assigned by planni when your company is set up. |
| Admin | Full access to event management, CRM, commerce, automation and settings. |
| Backoffice Manager | Access to the everyday work: managing events, contacts and orders. |
| Staff | Intended for trainers, focused on their own dates. |
Super Admin is greyed out in the form for inviting or editing a user. planni assigns this role when your company is set up, it cannot be assigned to other people through user management.
What you see after signing in
Backoffice Dashboard or Trainer Dashboard
Super Admin and Admin land on the Backoffice Dashboard after signing in, with an overview of revenue, attendees and upcoming events. Backoffice Manager and Staff instead see the personal Trainer Dashboard, focused on their own dates. More on both views is in Dashboard.
What else differs
Which further menu items are visible and what can be edited in them depends on the area. A role that weighs more in the table above always includes what the roles below it can do.
Assigning roles
Who is allowed to
Inviting people and changing roles is reserved for administrators. Every other role, the Backoffice Manager included, can see Settings → Users but cannot invite anyone or change a role there. The full guide is under Invite users and assign roles.
One restriction when assigning
Even as an administrator you can only assign roles that are no more powerful than your own.
Deactivated users
A status, not a role
A deactivated user has no access anymore, regardless of which roles they held before. The roles stay stored and become usable again immediately if the account is reactivated.
