Getting started

What is planni?

An overview of the platform and its areas.

What planni is

planni is a business platform for events, contacts and orders. It lets you manage your course offering, the people behind it and everything booked from it in one place instead of spread across several tools.

The core idea: product, event, order

Three terms run through the whole platform:

  • Product: the offering itself, with a price, a description and, for an event product, the module structure.
  • Event: a concrete date or a series of dates for a product, with a date, a location and a capacity.
  • Order: the booking created when someone books an event through your checkout.

A single product can turn into an event more than once, for instance when you run the same course every quarter. How these three steps fit together in the admin area is shown in Your first run.

The layout of the admin area

The navigation on the left is organised into work areas. Each one has its own help section with the same name.

Workspace

Your starting point for the work day: the dashboard with an overview of revenue, attendees and upcoming events, and the inbox for your team's email. See Workspace for more.

Event Management

Create events, maintain dates and locations, manage attendees and print lists. This also covers the calendar and the checklists on each event. See Event Management for more.

CRM

The master data behind registrations and orders: contacts, companies and billing addresses. See CRM for more.

Commerce

What customers can book, how an order is structured and how checkout is set up. This covers products, categories, discounts, invoices and the order overview. See Commerce for more.

Automation

Workflows that react to an event such as a new order, and the email templates they send. See Automation for more.

Reporting

Revenue, product performance and attendee statistics as charts. See Reporting for more.

Settings

Core company settings, mailboxes, user management and objects such as calendar types and custom fields. See Settings for more.

Which areas you see and what you may edit in them depends on your role. Details are in Roles and permissions.

Where to start

Get familiar with the interface first

Before you dive in, it is worth a quick look at the recurring controls: navigation, lists, filters. You will find that in Getting to know the interface.

Then do the first run

Your first run walks you through the whole thing once: create a location and a product, turn it into an event, publish it and trace the first order.
